Kids’ Christmas 2012 Party Review.

SANTA COMES TO TOWN TO MEET THE BARDAIS!

Even Santa couldn’t resist coming to Sri Bardai Brahmin Samaj’s Christmas Party. The event, held on Sunday 16th January 2012, was held at Glen Parva Memorial Hall in Leicester, which was brightly decorated with festive lights, Christmas Trees and wall garlands.

Of course, no Christmas party is complete without a special appearance by Santa – who was accompanied by two of his most trusted reindeer! Every child at the party was presented with a gift from Santa.

And the fun didn’t end there. Event coordinators ensured there was something for everyone, as children played favourite party games including musical statues and Pass the Parcel. But it wasn’t just the children who ended up on the floor. The grown-ups played their own game of Musical Chairs, which went down a treat, with teenagers and pensioners all taking part together.

With party food on the menu, children and grown-ups were well catered for, as they all tucked into some delicious pizza, samosas, spring rolls and chips.

Of course there was a bit of dancing too, with our resident DJ, Heena, playing some favourite tracks to get people onto the dance floor.

And if that wasn’t enough, everyone also joined in to play a special Christmas Quiz, with teams from each table racking their brains to remember festive answers. The winners, who called themselves Ghelanis Superstore, won a box of chocolates for emerging victorious out of the 12 teams. Well done to you guys!

The party was organised by a sub-committee, coordinated by Geeta Dave. Jayshree Kalyani, Harsha Joshi and Sumeer Kalyani were also helping to organise the event. But on the day, it was a wider effort by all members who helped in setting up, and tidying, the venue. We’d like to especially thank the following for their support: Mayur Kalyani for co-ordinating and leading a team of volunteers in the kitchen area; Heena Dave for DJ-ing and providing music; Narabdaben & Harshidaben Naker for providing ‘vegetable vaghaarela bhaat’; Manishaben Bhogaita for sponsoring Punjabi Samosas, Evolution Design for sponsoring the design and printing of party leaflets; Rajubhai for subsiding the cost of Samosas, Spring Rolls and Chips. And of course thank you those who helped in clearing the hall, serving the food, and assisting in providing entertainment.

All in all, it was a terrific party and enjoyed by all that attended. We’d love to make this an annual event and we look forward to YOUR support at the next one! For those who attended, please tell your friends and family what a wonderful time you had…and for those who couldn’t make it, you definitely missed out this year. So make sure you’re here for the next one! And on that note, we’d like to wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
