I was pleasantly surprised that it was indoor and it wasn’t freezing either! Everyone arrived promptly and there was a real buzz of excitement in the room. It was my very first visit to an Ice rink and I was very much surprised at how nicely everyone skated. I head counted 35 members in our group. The children moved around so well balanced. Yes, there were some falls but they bounced back up quickly so there were no issues. For the first 15-20 minutes, everyone got booted up (like you do when you go 10-pin bowling) and watched others on the rink to see how it’s done. Then the course ran for approximately 40 minutes. No adults were brave enough to do a twirl though.

The evening ended with the ‘Best Christmas Jumper Competition’ and Josh Mitesh Thanki from our Group donned his best twinkling Christmas jumper. Mayankbhai’s group trooped along the edge of the rink – ideal for beginners and those who were less confident also had penguins for support. I, of course, was a member of the paparazzi (spectator, Lol) a very important role, directing everyone which direction to go etc…. Later, we all went off in smaller groups for a Chippy or Noodles. Thank you to Mayankbhai for organising this fabulous event, it was worth every penny.
